The yard and the design office had a constant and interesting workload, kicking off with the completion and launch of ‘Altair’.

Forty yachts plan to attend the Fife Regatta

The summer of 07, ‘Altair’ and ‘Bluebird’
The famous 1931 Fife Yacht ‘Altair’ which, Duncan Walker originally worked on with its first restoration in 1987, had a ten month stay under-cover in Southampton for a major refit programme before heading for the Mediterranean.

The Fairlie Team
Paul Spooner, who joined Fairlie in 2000 after a period working as an in-house Naval Architect for the sail training ship ‘Tenacious’, has recently been appointed to the Fairlie Board of Directors.

Marketing our way forward
This year has seen a big increase in both the amount of marketing activity as well as the variety of content and targeting.

News from the Design Office
Throughout 2007 Fairlie made a big push with new designs. At the Monaco Yacht Show in September Paul Spooner unveiled the Fairlie cruising yacht design concept, which at 28m was designed as a long distance, bluewater cruising yacht, aimed at family or short handed cruising.

And the future?
Duncan Walker overviews the way forward. “With such a varied body-of-work forming the long history of Fairlie Restorations, it is not surprising that we have many potential clients quietly engaging with us and preparing personal plans for a future project.
